I observe urban landscapes qualities and elements, which I then collect and edit in the studio using sculpture, installation, drawing, photography and video. Personal narratives, belief systems and their social implications will be translated into physical and spatial forms. I often work with found and discarded objects, placing them alongside other materials to facilitate possible dialogues.

“Zabalaga’s work encapsulates a series of components that move on different lucidative levels. Those levels intervene the final materiality of the piec- es, but also, above all, the setting to produce feelings. On one hand, we have the spatial element that, in his proposals, is mainly shown through infrastructural elements, spaces that, unlike natural spaces, contain human intervention and reveal the factor of fleetingness. The approach to these enclosures –which are usually cracked–, set up lots of textual lines. Thus, questions related to physical changes within our reality arise, such as the topic of alienating the subject be- fore puzzling places and displaced functionalities, the recreation of states of mind and experiential recollections.”  (AAL #77) _Daleysi Moya
